Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten Enrollment

If your child will turn 5 years old by September 1, 2015, they are able to start Kindergarten in the 2015-2016 school year.

Transitional Kindergarten:

If your child will turn 5 years old between September 2 and December 2, 2015, they are able to start Transitional Kindergarten (TK) in the 2015-2016 school year.  TK is the first year of a two-year program that provides children a modified kindergarten curriculum that is age and developmentally appropriate.  You have a choice to enroll your child in TK or wait the additional year when your child is eligible for Kindergarten.

Please come to the Birney office to pick up an application packet.  Thank you.

Thank You, Readers!

Those who are six, sixteen, sixty-four, and more have all kinds of great events in store for the National Education Association's nineteenth annual observance of Read Across America. Readers of all ages are encouraged to celebrate with this year's book: Oh the Places You'll Go!

Birney's reading celebration took place in our classrooms on Monday, March 9th. Twenty-two community members, LBUSD personnel, and parents shared their love of reading with Birney's students.

Thank you, readers!
